The Town of Hanson’s Annual Town Election is TODAY, Saturday, May 17.
Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hanson Middle School, 111 Liberty St.
This year’s Annual Town Election includes a Proposition 2 1/2 override ballot question, which voters passed at the Town Meeting on May 5, and contested races for the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District School Committee and Water Commissioner.
The override would provide for the general administrative cost of operating the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District, Hanson Police Department, Hanson Fire Department and other Town departments.
The ballot question today reads: “Shall the Town of Hanson be allowed to assess an additional Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000) in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of providing for the general administrative cost of operating the schools, the police department, fire department and other town departments for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025?”
