Hanson voters will decide on a proposed $3 million override at the Annual and Special Town Meeting on May 5.
If the voters decide to approve the override at Town Meeting and subsequently the Annual Town Election, the following budget reductions would be averted:
- $940,000 for Whitman-Hanson Regional School District
- $130,000 for Facilities Manager and Information Technology
- $160,000 to eliminate one full-time police officer and firefighter
- $216,000 to defer the purchase of three police cruisers
- $73,000 to eliminate one full-time highway laborer and other expenses
- $27,000 reduction in Transfer Station hours
- $49,000 reductions in Health, Council on Aging, Library, Parks and Fields
